The Special Metro Airports Analysis Center is a activity of an informal consortium of cities, citizens' groups and individuals across America.
The common factor is an interest in the FAA's operation National Airspace System (NAS) and
having a busy connecting hub airport in their midst.
Only about 30 airports of 500+ commercial airports are used as hubs. The distinction is that the Hubs host far more flights
(than the average airport) each and every day. The hub airports anchor transcontinental routes and serve the major airlines
--too often at the expense of the people, businesses and communities near the airport.
This came to be without being planned to reduce consumer costs or maintain public health and safety.
